Friends of Mitchell Park (FOMP)

Mitchell Park is the place to find children playing and adults relaxing…all enjoying some quiet in an inviting grassy landscape. Sheridan-Kalorama’s largest green space is tucked in between S Street and Bancroft Place, 23rd Street and Kalorama Square. Through a public-private partnership between FOMP and the D. C. Department of Parks and Recreation, the park provides playground equipment, a multipurpose hardcourt, a large open field, picnic tables and benches for relaxing. Plantings and trees are maintained by FOMP through the generous support of Sheridan-Kalorama residents and friends. A regular newsletter provides information and updates on special events in the park as well as notices involving construction and maintenance issues. Special activities include an annual Halloween event, “Films in the Field,” square dances, and fund-raising tag-sale events.
